- Early Childhood Research Institute on Measuring Growth and Development
Investigators at the Universities of Minnesota, Kansas, and Oregon
launched the Early Childhood Research Institute on Measuring
Growth and Development (ECRI-MGD) in October, 1996, to
produce a comprehensive system for measuring the skills and
needs of individual children with disabilities from birth to eight years
of age.

First Signs, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating parents and
physicians about the early warning signs of autism and other developmental
disorders in early childhood.
The First SignsSM mission is to ensure the best developmental outcome for
every child. By educating both parents and physicians, we hope to promote
ongoing discussions regarding the most important, and often overlooked aspects
of development: social/emotional, communication, and behavior.

speech-language pathologists and
interdisciplinary consultants, we are
funded to evaluate the communication
development of children from 6 to 24
months of age in Leon County. They provide a variety of educational materials
and technical support to increase
the capacity of families and
service providers to enhance early
communication in young children.

The Division for Early Childhood (DEC) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is a nonprofit organization advocating for individuals who
work with or on behalf of children with special needs, birth through age eight, and their families. Founded in 1973, the Division is dedicated to
promoting policies and practices that support families and enhance the optimal development of children. Children with special needs include those who
have disabilities, developmental delays, are gifted/talented, and are at risk of future developmental problems.
