    This course presents basic information about the birth anomalies called cleft lip and cleft palate. It begins by defining these conditions, and continues by describing the processes of normal and abnormal velopharyngeal closure. The incidence and etiology of cleft lip/cleft palate are presented. Students will learn to distinguish between overt clefts, and the subtle conditions of occult and submucous cleft palate.
