This program is offered for .3 CEUs or 3 hours of continuing professional development (Intermediate Level: Professional area). Price: $75.00 This course will primarily focus on methods and techniques for examining observable stuttering behaviors. At the completion of this course the participant will be able to discuss the rationale and procedures for counting stuttering and related behaviors in a variety of clinical settings; practice making accurate and reliable counts of stuttering frequency and discuss the use of these and other relevant measures in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals who stutter. This course includes sound files that are required to complete the course. Please make sure your system has the ability to play sound files. The sound files in the course will activate your system's default media player. Windows Media Player is usually the default for Windows systems, but your default player might be Winamp, RealPlayer® or QuickTime. If you are unsure of your system's capabilities, try this Sound Test. Depending on your system, a small window may open prompting you to save the file or open it. Click "Open". This will download the sound file to your temporary files directory. Your default media player should automatically play the clip once the file is loaded. |
J. Scott Yaruss, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is an associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh and Co-director of the Stuttering Center of Western Pennsylvania. Yaruss conducts research on the onset and development of stuttering in preschool children, including analysis of linguistic and motoric source factors that contribute to children's production of speech disruptions. |
