This course is offered for 0.2 ASHA CEUs (Introductory level, Professional
area) and meets the Florida requirement for prevention of medical errors.
HIV/AIDS Myths and Facts
This 1 hour continuing education course focuses
on the myths and facts of HIV and AIDS including the modes of transmission,
and treatment. Infection control procedures and post-exposure management
for healthcare professionals are addressed as well as current Florida
law in regards to confidentiality in testing, counseling, offering of
HIV testing to pregnant women, and partner notification issues.
This ethics course for speech-language pathologists,
speech-language pathology assistants and audiologists will focus
on the presentation of an ethical decision making model, practical
case studies with possible ethical dilemmas as well as resources
and guidelines to help resolve those ethical dilemmas. Methods of
reporting ethical violations and disciplinary actions will be presented.
